Ryan Laurita

Photographer and Filmmaker

Photographer and filmmaker Ryan Laurita has lived in Sweden for 6 years. It’s a long way from home in Denver, Colorado. His wife is Swedish. Life and family took him to the Nordics, more specifically to Stockholm.

Ryan has known he wanted to be a photographer since he was 12 years old, when his mother brought home a Minolta 7000 camera. He quickly found photography to be: ‘true magic, full of endless possibilities.’ Later he took 4 (!) Bachelor of Art degrees: photography, painting and drawing, art history and visual communications. From there he ‘hounded’ his way into the commercial photography circuit. He has had a camera in hand ever since.

An outsider in Sweden, Ryan has found re-establishing his professional practice an uphill struggle. Studio CA is where runs his company or aktiebolag (AB) from. He often collaborates with them. Their support (and family support) have kept him steady, his camera pointing towards the future. Ryan’s images are so crisp and clear, yet warm and compassionate; even (or perhaps especially) his landscapes. He has made some very lovely imagery for us here at ABEN, too.
